About the Business

Jim Doran, the founder of the company, began designing driving aids for the disabled in Coventry 45 years ago, and formed Jim Doran Hand Controls 20 years later with his late partner, Mick McKernan. Since then the firm has progressed to ever larger premises and ever more complex adaptations to accommodate the demand for its specialist mobility activities. Today its reputation is unsurpassed in the field of driving aid provision.

Jim Doran passed away on Thursday 15th April 2010. He had been suffering with lung cancer since being diagnosed November 2009 and despite the fact that he'd recently spent his 68th birthday surrounded by his family and friends, his condition worsened and he died peacefully in hospital.
